He fell in love with the sport over the next 6 seasons and culminated his high school career on the 1st Team All-Ohio team. He continued playing club water polo at North Carolina State University, where he earned a degree in Secondary Education. Upon graduating, he accepted a teaching position and assistant coach position at Milford where he coached for two years before accepting a teaching position at Kings High School. He then started refereeing in 2016 and has thoroughly enjoyed a new perspective of the sport. He has made two trips out to Riverside, CA to officiate the ODP National Championships and looks forward to many future years of referring. When Sam is not officiating, he enjoys teaching Computer Science and coaching Swimming at Kings High School. He also coaches the Landen Stingrays, a neighborhood swim team for kids ages 3-18. After playing at Princeton High School, he played club water polo in college before taking the head coaching position at Sycamore HS and then Princeton where he remained until 2013 when he began refereeing. Since putting on the whites, Chad has become active in organizing local referee clinics and helping OWPRA as a Member-at-Large before his election to Supervisor of Officials in 2017. Chad also referees collegiately and is involved with USA Water Polo as the Zone Head Referee for the Great Lakes Zone. He is also the Chair for the Midwest Zone and works with the Referee Management Team as the Communications Coordinator for member sanctioning and social media. Outside of water polo, Chad is a K-12 administrator for a career technical school district in the Greater Cincinnati area where he works with teachers specifically on innovative classroom teaching and learning. He is a graduate of the College of Education at the University of Cincinnati earning degrees in education, leadership, and policy. Chad’s wife, Heather, is a elementary school teacher. After playing water polo in high school, Mark was the head coach at Sycamore High School from 1988-1998 where his girls team was State Champions five years & runner up for three years. From there, he became a referee until he moved onto Mason High School where he started their new program. He remained on until 2015 as Head Coach, culminating with his girls team winning the State Championship in 2013. Mark is currently the Head Swim Coach at Mason High School. His girl's team was back to back State Champions in 2018 and 2019. Mark is a retired Physical Education teacher & resides in Mason with his wife Jackie.
